Peppa – In Foster – South West

Peppa arrived with us following what initially sounded like a straightforward surrender. We were told she had been rehomed in April and her new family only discovered after adopting her that she was pregnant.
She went on to have 10 puppies by C-section. Her puppies were sold and, around 10–11 weeks after giving birth, Peppa herself is surrendered to us and needing rescue help… however, when we received her veterinary history, things didn’t quite add up.
Her records show that in February — before the claimed April rehoming Peppa had undergone progesterone/ovulation testing associated with breeding, despite veterinary advice not to breed her.
We’re not going to speculate about exactly what happened, but the information we’ve received simply doesn’t appear to tell the whole story.
Sadly, Peppa has already needed her first emergency veterinary visit since arriving with us.
She has come into rescue with an infected abscess on her mammary gland and a wound approximately 4cm deep which isn’t healing. She now requires surgery. She also has a double ear infection, and the vet has discussed potentially removing some of the excess skin from her undercarriage to help her going forward. God love her.
So what we DO know is that this beautiful girl is only 2 years old, has produced a litter of 10 puppies, those puppies have been sold and, just weeks later, Peppa has ended up in rescue needing veterinary treatment and surgery.
Whatever happened before she reached us, one thing is certain: Peppa will never be bred from again. She will never be used to make money again.
She’s now safe in foster in the South West with Holly and her family, alongside Beanie and Spudley.
From here on, Peppa matters for Peppa , not for the puppies she can produce.
